Restoration Work
Highly regarded for his historical research and ability to replicate classic design techniques and principles prior to partnering with Mike Weir in Weir Golf Design, Ian Andrew had become well known as one of North America’s experts on the restoration of Golden Era golf courses. Through Ian, the company remains committed to continuing restorative work.

“Ian has become the architect clubs turn to when they want to return to their roots,” says National Post golf columnist Robert Thompson, while Score Golf editor Bob Weeks comments that “Ian has a long list of credits that include wonderful restoration work at St. George’s and Weston in Toronto.”

Ian is currently working on the restoration of Highlands Links Golf Course, a Stanley Thompson course ranked 79th best in the World according to Golf Magazine. Ian has also completed the restoration St. George’s Golf & Country Club, another Thompson course, ranked 92nd in the World according to Golf Magazine.

Ian has been applauded for his sensitive restorations at places like Scarboro G&CC (Canada’s only Tillinghast course), Kawartha G&CC, St. Thomas G&CC, and the Cutten Club. He has been lauded as the most accurate and detail-oriented of any designer in Canada.

Ian’s reputation also extends outside Canada, and he consults to numerous courses in the U.S. His work south of the border includes four Walter Travis courses, and Plymouth, an outstanding Ross course in Massachusetts, as well as work on a Colt & Allison’s Park CC, near Buffalo.
